How often should I clean or
perform maintenance to my cloths dryer?
Here’s a simple test that determines exactly how
often you should have your dyer vent cleaned.
How often do you use your dryer?
- Light Use Only – Add 0 points
- Normal Usage – Add 5 points
- Use Daily – Add 10 points
How long is your dryer vent, including any flexible pipe?
- 10 feet or less – Add 0 points
- Between 10 & 20 Ft. – Add 5 points
- Greater then 20 feet – Add 10 points
How many turns does your dryer’s vent have?
- One 90 Degree – Add 0 points
- Two 90 Degree – Add 5 points
- More then 3 – Add 10 points
Remember that 2-45 degree turns anywhere in the system counts as a 90-degree turn.
Also, some flex pipes have several turns, as many as 270 degrees…
Now let’s check the results:
If your total score is less then 10 points then we recommend
cleaning the dryer vent every 5 years.
If your total score is between 10 & 20 points then we recommend
cleaning the dryer vent every 3 years.
If your total score is between 20 & 30 points then we recommend
cleaning the dryer vent annually.
